LARGE 19TH C. BURMESE BRONZE BUDDHA

This piece is on consignment from a long time customer.  The picture was taken at his house, and is therefore less good than I would ideally like.  The piece  is significantly more attractive than the picture.  This is a substantial, impressive piece with excellent detailing and and elaborate base.  It most likely was in use in some temple, because there is rubbed patina on the elephants' trunks, where many hands have obviously touched them for a blessing.  Overall patina is copper brown, smooth and deep.  It stands 19 inches high, but projects even larger.  Could be used as a central buddha in a medium to large altar.
