15TH C. BRONZE SUKOTHAI BUDDHA

We had so many people who wanted to buy our previous one in Gallery 3 that I have looked all over to try to find other real Sukothai period buddhas, not just Sukothai style.  This excellent example has a sweet face, a very dark patina, and abundant cuprite.  [N.B. I have deliberately lightened the color of the patina in the picture to show the detail better.]  He is substantial, at 16 1/2 inches tall; 12 inches at the knees.  These are now virtually impossible to find, and I doubt that I will be able to find another one that is affordable.  Thai collectors consider these buddhas to be the acme of their artistic history and do not usually sell them.
