WONDERFUL LARGE 18TH - 19TH C. WOODEN BURMESE PAGODA

A very large impressive Burmese stupa (the Burmese call them pagodas; they are also called chedis), made of teak with polychrome.  The buddha is original to the piece and attached.  This is best displayed on a high level perch, so that one can look into the arch at the buddha and see the detail on the lower portion.  It stands 38 inches high, so it is very substantial and almost certainly was in a temple or monastery.  There is a small metal parasol at the top.  Condition is excellent, with no significant defects.  This is a stunningly effective piece.  $2500
