19TH C. TIBETAN 3D KALACHAKRA MANDALA
A representation of the Buddhist universe, this amazing piece is the only one I have seen outside of pictures. There is one in the Potala Palace, and there is one in Philadelphia I am aware of. Most people are familiar with the two dimensional sand mandalas that are created and then destroyed; this is a 3D one, and meant to be kept. It is made out of darkly patinated copper, and is highly detailed. There are several small parts missing that are unlikely to be noticed; not surprising for a piece that age. 19" on a side at the base, 27 1/2" high. The condition is excellent. Close up photos are available on request. It was bought well, so the price is very reasonable. $3500
