14TH C. U THONG "A" BRONZE BUDDHA

There are three styles of U Thong buddhas, A, B, and C.  By far the most common are the C forms, of which we have sold several.  Please consult the archive for examples.  The A style is the earliest and extremely rare.  This is the outstanding buddha of our last buying trip, and of the year.  It has a magnificent deep tobacco patina, and one of the most soulful faces I have ever seen on a buddha.  Try as I could, I was unable to get a picture that really does justice to this piece.  I am not even sure I wish to sell him, and the price reflects both the rarity and quality of this piece.  He stands 9 1/2 inches high.  The absolute best.
