18TH C. STANDING LAOTIAN BUDDHA

This slim graceful buddha is made of teak, and stands an impressive 36" tall.  He was obtained from a collector in Thailand and represents a somewhat more polished, less primitive variety of Laotian buddha.  As time goes by I find myself much more drawn to buddhas from Laos; because they display so many interesting variations in style and individuality;  much more than Thai or Burmese.  Note the exquisitely painted small flames painted on the robe (ask for closeups if interested).   Condition is excellent; only small age-approriate losses to the surface lacquer and gilding.   This figure gives off a very serene presence.
