14TH - 15TH C. BRONZE CHIANG SAEN BUDDHA

You only run into a buddha of this size and quality rarely;  and then it usually is too expensive to buy.  We encountered this in a relatively out-of the-way part of Thailand, and therefore it was obtainable.  It has a beautiful contemplative face, graceful form, and very old patina.  This is most certainly the oldest piece that we have, and it could be older than the dates above.  It stands 23 1/2 inches high.  There is slight age wear to the base, and an old repair of the right hand.  A magnificent and rare buddha.
