18TH C. LOPBURI BUDDHA

This Khmer style buddha has a strong, thoughtful solemn presence.  The detailing of the face and hand is excellent, and he shows a patch of cuprite in the metal of the forehead.  There is evidence that he has been cleaned, which I do not like to do; but that is the way he was acquired.  He stands 10 1/2 inches tall, and has a small loss to the base as pictured.  Bought well, and so an excellent value for a piece with legitimage age.  $1100
