12TH - 13TH C. KHMER BRONZE BAYON STYLE CEREMONIAL DAGGER

 This wonderful sculptural object had a ritual use, as it is not an edged weapon.  It is quite thick and heavy, and may have been used for the same ceremonial purpose as the Tibetan phurba.  It has a very dark burial patina and stands 10 1/2 inches tall, 14 with the custom stand.  You see many Khmer bronzes (most all of which are fake), but I have never come across one of these.  Beautiful form and true antiquity.  $1000
