15TH C. CHIANG SAEN BUDDHA

Found near the city of Sukhothai, this buddha has such a commanding presence that I noticed two ladies bowing to it as I was carrying it away.  It appears to have always been inside, and consequently developed the incredible deep rich dark brown patina that you see here.  It is  classic northern Thai, in the style called Phra Singh.  It stands 20 inches high, and is in perfect condition.  I am tempted to keep him.  Gorgeous.
