KHMER SANDSTONE APSARA STELE The age of this piece is uncertain. I am sure that it is not 11th or 12th century, which is the style it is in, but it could be from a later period and still antique. It has wear consistent with being exposed to the elements for a while, but I cannot date it with any certainly. However, it is a fabulous piece of stone carving, with wonderful sensuous curves, and great detail. Look at the arms and the skirts on the dancers. Apsaras are celestial maidens who dance in the palaces of the gods. This would make a wonderful centerpiece for a room with its substantial size and expressiveness. It stands tall with the stand. I am pricing it conservatively as a decorative object. I think it is probably older. If it were original, it would be many thousands of dollars. $2500.
