18TH C. TEMPLE SUKHOTHAI BUDDHA I guarantee that this piece is a minimum of two hundred years old, and may even date all the way back to the Sukhothai period (five hundred years). I cannot verify that, however, without metallurgic testing. The Sukhothai style is the most admired and imitated in Thailand because of its grace and proportions. This was a devotional buddha, and still has traces of gilt on it. It has a modest, serene face, and beautiful slender proportions. It stands 24 inches high, with a complex brown/green patina with areas of red cuprite. Condition is excellent. A classic beautiful Sukhothai.
