18TH C. SANDALWOOD AYUTTHAYA BUDDHA

This piece has had an interesting journey.  I sold it to a dealer in Iowa, and it lived there until being bought by a New Yorker and returning here.   Sometimes, pieces pass through your hands several times, which seems amazing, but happens surprisingly often.  It is a classic sandalwood buddha in the 18th century Ayutthaya style;  the wood is still slightly fragrant  There is a loss to the right base as pictured;  the condition of the carving is very good.  14 1/2 inches high.  The buddha is removable.  $1800
