19TH C. TERRACOTTA BURMESE NAGA I have been fortunate over the years to find just a few Burmese terracotta pieces that have survived virtually intact. Most of these pieces are broken and repaired or have significant losses; since terracotta is very fragile. This one is in spectacularly good shape, especially considering the elaborate detail in the head, teeth and trident. He is also substantial, measuring 17 1/2 inches high. I actually bought this for myself, thinking I had the perfect place for it in our new apartment. Alas, it is too big. What a wonderful, powerful piece, though.
