18TH C. SILVER THAI BUDDHA

A lovely pure silver clad buddha; this one Thai and older than the Cambodian one already on the site.  I was unable to get a totally satisfactory picture because of the reflections, but it is even more attractive than the picture.  He stands 11 1/2" high with the custom fitted base.  He has a warm, benign face, unusual for a Thai buddha of this type.  There is a nick at the base of the left thumb, and slight bending to the sheeting at the bottom, which is why it was custom mounted to take the pressure off.  Otherwise condition is excellent.  Because of the delicacy of the sheeting, these do not usually survive without considerable damage.   $2000
